How do I discover movies and TV series?
FilmFlirt uses a swipe-based interface similar to dating apps:
- Swipe Right or tap the ❤️ button to add a movie to your watchlist
- Swipe Left or tap the ✖️ button to pass on a movie
- Tap "More Info" to see detailed information about a movie
- Use the filter icon (top right) to customize your preferences
Why do I see ads in the app?
FilmFlirt uses Google AdMob to keep the app free. You may see:
- App-Open Ads: Shown when you first launch the app (once every 4 hours)
- Interstitial Ads: Full-screen ads shown periodically as you use the app
Ads help support the development and maintenance of the app, allowing us to keep FilmFlirt free for everyone.
How do I customize my movie preferences?
You can customize your preferences in several ways:
- Go to Settings (gear icon in the bottom tab bar)
- Select Languages to choose which languages you want to see
- Select Genres to filter by your favorite genres
- Adjust the minimum rating slider
- Toggle Movies and/or Series on/off
- Use the filter icon on the home screen for quick adjustments
Where is my watchlist stored?
Your watchlist is stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. This means:
- Your watchlist is private and secure
- No internet connection required to view your saved movies
- Deleting the app will permanently remove your watchlist
- We don't have access to your watchlist data
How does the app find movies?
FilmFlirt uses The Movie Database (TMDb) API to fetch movie and TV series information. The app:
- Fetches popular movies and TV series based on your preferences
- Uses your selected languages, genres, and rating filters
- Randomizes results to give you fresh content each time
- Remembers movies you've already seen to avoid repetition
If no movies match your filters, the app automatically relaxes the filters to ensure you always have content to discover.
No movies are loading. What should I do?
If you're not seeing any movies:
- Check your internet connection
- Make sure at least one content type (Movies or Series) is enabled in Settings
- Try adjusting your filters - they might be too restrictive
- Use the "Reset Preferences" option in Settings to start fresh
- Restart the app
If issues persist, contact support with details about the error.
Can I use the app offline?
You can view your watchlist offline. However, discovering new movies requires an internet connection to fetch data from The Movie Database (TMDb) API.
How do I remove a movie from my watchlist?
To remove a movie from your watchlist:
- Go to the Watchlist tab (heart icon)
- Tap on the movie you want to remove
- Tap the "Remove from Watchlist" button
What does "Reset Preferences" do?
The "Reset Preferences" option in Settings will:
- Reset all your preferences to default (languages, genres, rating, etc.)
- Clear your entire watchlist
- Clear your discovery history
- Reset onboarding status (you'll go through onboarding again)
Warning: This action cannot be undone. Use it only if you want a completely fresh start.
Privacy
FilmFlirt does not collect personal data. All preferences and watchlist data are stored locally on your device. We use Google AdMob for advertising, which may collect anonymous data to display relevant ads.
